return of the sprocket holes/mid-term
Finally! I modified my Lomo 35mm film adaptor for my Holga so that the image bleeds all the way to the edge of the film... check out the sprocket holes!!! It looks awesome, now you know that these were taken with a modified Holga. If anyone has any questions about the mod I'll be showing what I did and what the final product looks like after you take a serrated blade to your 35mm adaptor, so keep your eyes out for that post soon. I must say these images came out great. The sprocket holes really add an interesting design element and the light leaks around each individual hole are particularly lovely. These images were taken as part of my mid-term for my pinhole & plastic camera course at academy of art university. I shot for a week making sure to carry my Holga with me wherever I went. I did my best to pay more attention to my surroundings, capturing scenes that I normally wouldn't give a second glance. But this project would have been drastically different if my instructor Connie would have let me change it. early on the shooting process wasn't producing the results I was hoping for. It was coming down to the wire and I didn't think I was going to get the project to work. I asked Connie if I could go a different route and thankfully she had me continue with the project I had purposed. Luckily I found an unprocessed roll of film that was in my backpack. I had it processed and tah-da! success! All of the images below were on that roll. So in the end it all worked out and i made it happen... thank god hahaha.
Zack and Keith under the red light
where did all the sprocket holes go?
For X-mas this year my mom got me quite a few items from Lomography shop like a filter set, the Lomo ringflash and several other things. But the best was the 35mm film adaptor for my Holga. I've shot 35mm film in my Holga before but it was always a messy endeavor using makeshift adaptors I had made myself. While the Lomo 35mm film adaptor makes composition easier and eliminates scratches on the negatives it leaves one key element out, the one that gives it a distinct look... THE SPROCKET HOLES!!! it covers them! what? finding this out could possibly be he most frustrating discovery ever... The two images below are shot with the Lomo 35mm adaptor, people didn't even know they were taken with a Holga until I told them, you just can't tell. Sigh... guess i need to modify my adaptor, actually that sounds fun, time to do some work. Check back soon to see the modified adaptor results.
good friends, music & whiskey.
Since moving to the city I have been kinda lonely. While I've met some cool people here I've really been missing my good friends from back home. So a few weeks ago my friends Dan and Pete came into the city for a weekend of heavy drinking and bad decisions. It was on the Saturday when we bought the biggest bottle of whiskey I've ever seen. We drank ourselves stupid, grabbed a guitar and proceeded to the street to perform an impromptu concert. That night we sang to beautiful women, the homeless and our local liquor store owner. A good time was had by all. Thank god my Lomo Fisheye camera never left my side.
